Donald Judd - Catalogue Raisonne of Paintings, Objects and Wood-Blocks 1960 - 1974
This is a grail.
There is no better book on Judd.
As of today, this is the most substantial book on Judd. And, it is the ONLY catalogue raisonne of Judd’s work.
This catalogue was published by the National Gallery of Canada in 1975, a project by Brydon Smith, an early champion of minimal art. The catalogue accompanied the first major retrospective of Judd’s work at the National Gallery.
Judd was very involved with the process, including the design and publishing of this catalogue.
On the design of the catalogue: “The heft of the Judd catalogue gives it a sculptural quality. The light cadmium-red of the cover was carefully chosen, evoking the artist’s 1963–1964 solo exhibition at New York City’s Green Gallery, the first to display his three-dimensional 'specific objects.”
It is a beautiful object in and of itself.
This is the softcover edition.
